THE PRAYER PERSPECTIVE: STORM PRAYING

HELLO MY NAME IS PERNELL HILL AND WELCOME TO THE PRAYER PERSPECTIVE, A BIBLICAL VIEW POINT ON THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF PRAYER. EACH PERSPECTIVE WILL HAVE PRAYER TAKE-AWAYS, THESE ARE STEPS YOU CAN USE TO MAXIMIZE YOUR PRAYER DISCIPLINE.

Mark 4:35b, Let us pass over unto the other side.. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39: And he arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.. After reading this I thought about how many of us wonder whether or not Jesus cares about the storm we are in. God reveal to me that if He didn’t care, why would he be in the boat? Why not just stay away and let you suffer or pass over alone? But that is not Christ, nor should it be us, we to should be prepared to go through the storm with our fellow brothers and sisters; since Christ lives within us. It’s encouraging when its determined that someone whom you have become acquainted not only endure with you but uses the resources they have to help you during your storm. He (Jesus) says in verse 35″let us pass over..” key word is “Us” He had every intention to cross over with them, and He had every intention of being in the storm. Jesus’s greatest concern was not so much the storm itself, but their faith during the storm. Those of us who are strong, should emphatically encourage others to also exercise their faith, for this will help us all in the long run.

Storms can sometimes bring out our best prayers, its those moments of desperation we turn our attention to the Lord and communicate our concerns. It may be driven by fear, doubt, love, curiosity, etc. Whatever that emotion is, it can really bring out that real part of us, which is to say, unless God helps me in my storm, I don’t know how I am going to make it, and that’s real. Its important that when learn the kingdom principles of prayer, because fear is not a cure for a storm, but it’s our faith that’s suited to command the storm.

Let me encourage you, as a disciple (follower) of Jesus, you are not alone in the storm, Jesus is there with you, and he cares about your well being (which is why he spoke peace and removed the danger, and to show His power) perhaps our prayer by faith should be, “Lord bring peace and calm to this storm I’m in, I know you got the power, so I am trusting you will see me to the other side”..Be encouraged my brothers and sisters, you are not in this alone, it might appear that He is sleeping, or unattentive, but he is very much aware of what you are going through..Amen.
